About Christ Church
Christ Church is
grounded in history and tradition yet is seeking to clarify our identity as a
community of worshippers, looking for the balance between tradition and change.
The joy and beauty of our church and the beauty of the liturgy, central in the
life of our church, is something we naturally want to share; in return, reaching
out to others reinforces the spirit of communion within worship.
A broad church orientation allows us to love unreservedly the Anglican rites and
rituals but directs us both inward and outward as we celebrate them. We are
reminded of Urban Holmes's wonderful insight that when Anglicanism is at its
best "its poetry, its music and its life can create a world of wonder in which
it is very easy to fall in love with God." (What
Is Anglicanism?, p.5) And we
remember that in its fullest attainment that love is both personal and shared.
Sharing and broadness carry implications of an evangelical
mission. Outreach and education and hospitality are parts
of this mission within and without the congregation. The
ministry is to the larger community, to our seniors and to
our young people.
